Redding Orthopaedic Spine SurgeonDr. Blackburn is an orthopaedic surgeon with additional specialty fellowship training in spine surgery. He has a keen interest and training in treatment of a plethora of spinal pathology including acute and chronic disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He treats a multitude of spinal problems including degenerative disc disease, disc herniation, trauma/fractures, and spinal deformity.

Dr. Blackburn completed his spine fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Here obtained extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of complex spinal pathology. Prior to fellowship training Dr. Blackburn graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He continued his post-graduate residency training with Michigan State University in the greater Detroit area. He graduated from Michigan State University with honors as a double major of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and Spanish Language and Culture.

Dr. Blackburn likes to approach all patients as individuals as he recognized that everyone’s needs and concerns are unique. He takes an approach to always act in the patient’s best interest and to include the patient in the decision making process. Once diagnosis has been made then treatment options are discussed focusing on the individual needs of the patient.

Dr. Blackburn enjoys any outdoor activity including hiking, rafting, and biking. Additionally, Dr. Blackburn likes to travel and explore new places where he is able to learn about and explore new cultures.
