Dr. Chang – Medical Resident Teacher Of The Year

Congratulations to Tony Chang, MD, MS for being recently honored as 2016-2017 Medical Resident Teacher of the Year. This is the second time he has received this award from the faculty and medical residents at Mercy Family Health and Shasta Community Health.

In his resident teaching practice, Dr. Chang precepts a sports medicine clinic at Mercy Family Health once a month. Clinical time for residents includes seeing new and established patients, hands-on exams and procedures, and in-depth discussions of clinical findings and treatment options. With the help of cast technicians, Dr. Chang also leads residents in casting and splinting. Additionally, residents are given the opportunity to evaluate physical and occupational therapy with Liberty Physical Therapy.

Another title Dr. Chang proudly holds is the Official Medical Director of the USTA Professional Tennis Challenger Event. Dr. Chang is a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association. He is also an acclaimed member and lecturer for the Society of Tennis Medicine and Science as well as the American Medical Tennis Society.

These memberships, awards, and years of experience align perfectly with Dr. Chang’s specialization in sports medicine. In both his professional practice and teaching roles, Dr. Chang is dedicated to treating junior level and professional athletes, specifically tennis players.

Congratulations, Dr. Chang!
