Shasta Ortho Surgeon First to Use New Laser Tech, Total Ankle Replacement

Shasta Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Institute surgeon, Dr. Jason Nowak, was the first surgeon to use the FasTrac Distal Tibia Alignment System during a recent Total Ankle Replacement. This new technology helps guide surgeons to the desired position. The System features proprietary laser technology from Paragon28 that is “designed to provide a precise visual reference point during component alignment, a critical step in establishing” the best implant placement during Total Ankle Replacement procedures.

Dr. Jason Nowak, DPM, FACFAS, is board certified in foot surgery.

Jason Nowak, DPM is board-certified in both foot and reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

As quoted in the Orthopedic Design and Technology publication:

“In addition to expediting and visually enhancing alignment, the System streamlines the surgical technique by eliminating the need to insert an additional pin into the tibial tubercle or conducting CT scans that may be necessary for other total ankle alignment techniques,” said Jason Nowak, M.D., who performed the first surgery with the technology last week in Redding, Calif.

Shasta Ortho Foot & Ankle Institute’s foot and ankle doctors are committed to using the latest technology for the best patient outcomes.
