John C. Lange, MD
In 1985, Dr. John C. Lange graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in molecular biology from Sonoma State University. He continued as a Regent's Scholar at the University of California, Davis School of medicine, and he earned his Medical Degree from there in 1989. Dr. Lange interned in the Surgery Department at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center where he also completed his orthopaedic residency training in 1994.
Dr. Lange joined Shasta Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in September of that year. In 1997, he spent a month in Kurgan, Russia studying the Ilizarov technique of using Ilizarov's skeletal fixation system for reconstruction of traumatic skeletal injuries, and the correction of complex skeletal deformities.
Dr. Lange's constant pursuit of excellence in orthopaedics has included continuing research and specialty training in the emerging field of minimally invasive surgical techniques. He is a consultant for and developer of Smith+Nephew Corporation's, computer assisted orthopaedic surgery systems (which enable orthopaedic surgeons to perform high precision, minimally invasive, hip & knee replacement surgery and pelvic and acetabular trauma stabilization surgery). Dr. Lange lectures on these topics throughout the United States and Europe. He is also a member of the North American Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) and the Swiss Arbietsgemeischaft für Osteosythesefragen (AO) North American Faculty group.
Dr. Lange is Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a Faculty Member of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Davis. His specialty interests include sports medicine, joint replacement, complex deformity reconstruction, as well as pediatric orthopaedics, and foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Lange and his wife Cindy have five children. He is very active in his church and enjoys time with his family hiking and camping. Dr. Lange's personal interests include flying, sailing, bicycling, history, rocketry and astronomy.
