By now, you've probably heard about Katelyn and her organization called Kids4Healing (If not, check her out here: Teen Stands Up To Cancer). Katelyn and Kids4Healing are now working with the St. Jude holiday program to collect $11,000 in monetary donations and 300 new unwrapped gifts for kids being treated at St. Jude and their families. St. Jude is the only pediatric center in the United States that fully pays for lodging, travel, and medical expenses for children and their families who are without insurance. St. Jude was recently ranked as the most trusted nonprofit brand by market research firm Harris Interactive.

Raise Awareness For Cancer In Redding California

If you've checked out the Shasta Ortho blog lately, you know that we've been featuring an outstanding young lady from Redding, Katelyn Peterson, who has been doing some awesome things to raise awareness for cancer.

Katelyn's journey started when she shaved her head to show support for a family friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer. It has now grown into a passionate mission as Katelyn has since started an organization called Kids4Healing, and she is now actively spreading the word. Redding California Cancer Support

Shock, fear, anxiety, grief, anger, depression, disbelief. Those are all common feelings upon receiving a cancer diagnosis about oneself or loved one.

13-year old Katelyn Peterson experienced some similar feelings when she first heard that her close family friend, Lisa, was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was important to Katelyn to let her friend know that she would do anything to support her while she went through treatment. That's when Katelyn decided to shave her head so that every time Lisa saw Katelyn, she would remember that she is loved and supported.
