An estimated 16 million Americans suffer from Dupuytren’s contracture. What begins as lumps or dimples under the skin of the palms becomes painful contraction of the hand as a rope-like cord pull down on fingers.
Dupuytren’s contracture is caused from a build-up of collagen under the skin. It may affect one or more fingers. Worsening over time, it is painful and constricts range of motion in the hands and fingers.
