16 Oct How To Get Hydrated!
Staying hydrated is extremely important if you’re an athlete of course, but it’s also important for everyone to get enough water no matter who they are. Depending on size, gender, and activity level, the recommended daily amount can vary from 2 liters to 3 or more liters per day for adults. For a lot of people, drinking water isn’t at the top of their “most exciting things to do” list, so they need a little extra motivation to get their daily dose. We put together a list of ways that can help you hydrate.
Tips For Drinking More Water
1. Bring It With You – To work, to school, while you’re running errands, wherever you go, make it a habit to always have water with you. Get a water bottle or a thermos, fill it up, and make it your daily accessory the same as you would your wallet or your phone.
2. Periodic Drinking – A lot of times people find drinking water all at once overwhelming, so a good way to avoid feeling waterlogged is to break it up into periodic drinking. Make it a goal to drink some every 15 minutes, or every half hour. If you do this throughout the day, you’ll eventually work your way to “enough” water, and you’ll also eventually create a water drinking habit for yourself.
3. Drink It At Room Temperature – Especially during the chillier seasons, some people can find it unappealing to take in large amounts of cold water. If you keep some water in a pitcher on your counter, the room temperature liquid can be easier to take in.
4. Use A Phone App – If you are reading this, you can rest assured that you are not the only person with a “water-drinking problem”. You have so many fellow hydrationally-challenged buddies that they make phone apps for water drinking missions. Check out a few of these options:
5. Create Water Drinking Moments – By this we mean, make it a goal to drink water after you do certain things throughout out the day. For instance… every time you drink something other than water – drink a glass of water after, or every time there is a commercial break during the show you are watching – drink some water, and so on. Choose things you due regularly throughout that day that you can commit to that will trigger a “drink some water” moment.
6. Drink Flavored Water – Drinking water doesn’t have to be something you dread. With the emergence of the flavored water trend, water can now be a yummy treat you actually look forward to. The Internet is filled with different recipes and fun twists on water. A simple search for flavored water recipes on Pinterest can change your life. Water may actually become your favorite drink, and getting hydrated may become one of your favorite parts of the day!
