Haglund’s Deformity
Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms?
- A bony enlargement at the back of the heel
- Irritated soft tissue from the heel rubbing against shoes
- A painful bursitis (inflammation of tissue between tendon and bone)
Haglund’s Deformity can occur from wearing stiff shoes: ice skates, women’s pumps, men’s dress shoes. Rigged shoes create pressure and aggravate the bump while walking. It can occur in one or both feet.
An orthopedic foot and ankle specialist will examine the foot and through x-rays view the heel’s structure. There are surgical and non-surgical procedures used to treat Haglund’s deformity.
