What is Dupuytren’s contracture?
Dupuytren’s contracture is a build up of collagen in the hands. It may begin as nodules, or lumps, below the skin and you may see pitting, or dimpling, on the palm. It eventually forms a “rope-like” cord in the palms. The cord contracts, making the fingers curl inward toward the palm. Your range of motion in your fingers may become limited.
Treatment for Dupuytren’s contracture
There are surgical and non-surgical options for Dupuytren’s contracture. In some instances treatment to correct Dupuytren’s contracture can be surprisingly minimal.
