Garret Strand, Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Doctor in Redding

Dr. Garret Strand moved to Redding in July 2020 to complete the Northern California Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Fellowship through Shasta Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. He is dual board certified in reconstructive rearfoot/ankle and forefoot surgery and serves as the Fellowship Director of the Northern California Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Fellowship Program.

Dr. Strand completed his surgical foot and ankle residency at Wheaton Franciscan – Ascension Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Throughout residency, he received extensive training in all areas of foot and ankle reconstruction working under a large number of top foot and ankle surgeons. His training strongly focused on rearfoot and ankle pathology of all types including trauma, elective reconstruction, arthroscopy, total ankle replacement, limb deformity correction, and limb salvage. As the 2020-2021 fellow at Shasta Orthopaedics, Dr. Strand obtained even further advanced training working with the top musculoskeletal and orthopaedic specialists in the field.

Dr. Strand grew up in the small town of Decorah, Iowa where he was involved in many sports and outdoor activities. He went on to complete his undergraduate studies at The University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. Following graduation, he continued his medical education at SCPM – Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Il.

In his free time, Dr. Strand stays active, training for his next Ultra Marathon race, hiking, swimming, biking, and golfing. Dr. Strand is excited to experience everything the North State has to offer with his wife, two boys, and their dog, Brew.
