Failed Back Surgery Syndrome
20-40% of people who undergo back surgery will continue to have pain, or will have a recurrence of pain later. In some cases, more surgery may be needed. However, if the condition is not treatable with surgery, or surgery would be too risky or invasive, other treatments may be recommended. Injections can often help reduce or block the pain. If there is extensive scar tissue or nerve damage leading to chronic nerve pain, Spinal Cord Stimulation may be the best option for long term treatment.
