Achilles Rupture
An Achilles rupture requires immediate diagnoses and treatment.
Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms?
- A sudden sharp pain in the heel
- A snapping sound at the onset of pain
- Difficulty Walking
An Achilles rupture occurs when the Achilles tendon, at the back of the ankle, breaks. Rupture typically occurs when the calf muscle is flexed and the foot is suddenly bent upwards. Sports injuries are a common source of an Achilles rupture, though age and other factors may result in the rupture of the achilles tendon.
Immediate diagnosis and treatment is required for recovery. Treatments may include surgical and non-surgical procedures as well as physical therapy.
